How much are high school formal portraits?

Take the pressure off yourself and let Pink Turtle come to your house for some family portraits with your teenager. After that we’ll come to the park or wherever the students meet locally before the formal. We’ll shadow your teenager and photograph candid portraits of them with their friends.

Packages are $250-$350 depending on travel involved and include about 90 minutes of photography roughly 45 minutes at each of the two locations.

What should we wear?

Some ideas for that all important question “what should we wear?”:

  • Choose the theme of the shoot and keep it simple (casual, formal, athletic)
    • Avoid “fashion” trends
  • Think coordinated but not necessarily completely matching
  • Choose a colour palette to suit the location:
    • beach location might be pale blues, pinks, white, beige
    • playground could include 1 bright colour to add a sense of fun with kids
  • Start with a favourite item of clothing for 1 family member (e.g. Mum) and build around that
  • Large families could try similar tones of 1 or 2 colours rather than completely matching
  • Try clothes on 1 week before shoot in case someone has grown out of something or there is small repair required
  • Incorporate several textures of similar coloured clothing
  • Consider where in your home you will display your family portraits
    • Is there an established colour scheme or feature wall?
    • Will you have one large print or a collection of smaller images?
    • Will the portraits be displayed in the family rumpus room or a formal living room?
  • Wear clothes with minimal branding (e.g. no large screen prints or company logos)
  • Avoid bold stripes, plaids and busy patterns which draw the eye away from the faces

By working together, we will capture the connections unique to your family in relaxed natural portraits that you will love for a lifetime.

Thank you for visiting. Hope to see you in front of the lens soon.

How do I prepare for my shoot?

Be sure to try on the clothes you’ve chosen for the shoot a week or so before our portrait session to ensure everything fits well, feels comfortable, and has no surprise dirt marks or holes that need repairing.

Please feel welcome to bring a few favourite props, sports gear, treasured picnic blanket or anything that will help tell your family story.

Don’t worry if your child scrapes their knee one day or your teenager get a pimple on their forehead. We can remove unexpected blemishes during final editing of your images.

Do you have any other tips for my session?

The most beautiful light for portraits is early morning or late afternoon whichever best suits your family.

Pink Turtle will style the portrait shoot for you or you are invited to bring props or suggest a specific theme to run through the portraits.

Themes might be:

  • At the beach
  • Family fishing on the wharf
  • At Grandma and Grandpa’s farm
  • Family fun at the park
  • A family trail ride
What does a photo shoot for Horse Assisted or Animal Assisted Practitioners include?

Each Horse Assisted or Animal Assisted Practitioner will have your own unique herd and client base with your own vision for how to showcase the work you do. As an Equine Assisted Learning practitioner and owner of Holistic Equine Assisted Learning (HEAL) I am aware of the sensitivity of this work. My top priority is to be as flexible and supportive of each animal assisted practitioner as I can.

Photo shoots of you and your animals would be on location at your home, property, paddock, or agistment centre and are usually completed in 60-90 mins.

Photographing an actual animal assisted client session is feasible if you have written confirmation that your client has agreed to be photographed during their session. Together we’ll ensure there is a selection of discreet images that highlight your work and your herd but do not identify the client.

If you prefer I can photograph a mock client session for animal assisted practitioners if you have a willing friend, colleague, or family member to be your “client”.

For those of you within 1-2 hrs from Nowra, NSW the cost would be $400 for a complete package including:

  • pre-shoot advice by phone,
  • 1 on 1 consultation on arrival,
  • 1-2 hr photo shoot, and
  • providing you with 20-30 fully edited digital images suitable for website or social media.

If you live further away than a 1-2 hour drive let’s discuss time and distance logistics.  We could organise multiple photo shoots for 2-4 practitioners in one area and share travel costs. Please call on 0421 977 129 to discuss your Horse Assisted or Animal Assisted Practitioner needs.
